Mobile Outreach for homeless

mobile outreach for the homeless in Alameda CountyOur mobile outreach program utilizes ambulances that have been converted into outreach vehicles. Several times a week we go out to various homeless encampments and distribute hygiene kits, blankets, clothing, warm soup, sandwiches as well as information about mental heath, health, substance abuse, and employment resources. While doing this, we gather data on the characteristics of the homeless population as well as their service needs.

  • Supplies basic needs to homeless encampments (e.g. hygiene kits, blankets, clothing, food items) and establishes trust
  • Provides information on housing, emergency referrals and other support services
  • Gathers demographic data and service needs of the homeless population
  • Encourages trust with repeated contact and support of the hard-to-reach homeless
  • Staffed by vets that understand and empathize
